Don’t settle for a “bastard blessing” wait for God’s best!

You’ve prayed, fasted, checked your heart for disobedience, and know in faith that God has heard your heart. Now you wait. And you wait. And you wait. You know your answer is coming because God has promised it, but you still have to wait. What I want to warn you against during your wait, is the danger of producing what I call a “bastard blessing’. Wait, what???? Yes, a ‘bastard blessing’. Hear me out. Let’s go to the account of Abram and Sarah. They were old – like great grandparents kind of old…but had no children. (Gen. 18). The angel came and told them they would bare a son. Two chapters later, no child yet, but we know that something was taking place in Sarah’s life that was showing on the outside because she was approached by King Abimelek to be one of his wives! See, God was preparing her womb to bring forth a promised child, and the enemy knew this as well. I believe her womb was ready to receive seed for a child, and the enemy knew it. There she was, old and looking good, womb ready to receive her blessing, and her husband says to tell him she is his sister so he doesn’t get killed. God had to step in and intervene by giving the King a dream so that he wouldn’t sin and that Sarah didn’t produce a ‘bastard blessing”. See, she prayed, she waited, and her husband (the one closest to her) placed her in a bad situation.. She was ready to receive ‘seed’ but it was not yet God’s timing. Then, Sarah grows tired of waiting and prompts Abram to take Hagar to bare his seed. Again, this was not God’s answer/blessing and the child becomes a “bastard blessing” whose consequences are still being felt today. Sarah’s blessing, Isaac comes as promised – in God’s timing but due to their impatience, life wasn’t as peaceful as God intended. Beloved, please be aware of the enemy coming as a king (someone you don’t know) taking you into his camp, or of those closest to you (those you do know or yourself) giving you a fast way to get your blessing… you will find that you didn’t receive God’s best, you received a “bastard blessing.” Just have patience and wait! God’s best is worth every minute of waiting.
